Table 23 and FSCC

Meia Praia – My Beach

My last week in Turiscampo and yet another photo of my favourite walking beach. Meia Praia means “half beach”, but I took a little license!

It has been an incredible adventure and I feel I took a lot of risks but many paid off. Honestly, I had some dark times, even recently, and reached for the phone but took a deep breath. I met some lovely people and experienced the kindness of strangers. And the adventure is not over yet.

I had dinner once a week in the Turiscampo restaurant. The manageress heard my story and told me I don’t have to book, Table 23 will always be set for me. I told her 23 was my daughters’ birth date.

And then today, I had been putting off a trip to FSCC. But I had made a photo for the “boys” to put behind the bar. I met with Sandra and Patrick Dam for coffee in Almancil and they said that if I come for a year they will meet me often and take me to the airport when I want to go home.

Walking into the clubhouse, well, I am sure you know how I felt. I sat for a couple of hours near the spot I first saw Sandra. I met Paulo, Derry (Aderito), and Antonio. They gave me an especially warm welcome and said some beautiful things about Sandra. Thomas has liver cancer and is on his second chemo treatment.

I could not leave Turiscampo without mentioning again, Dragon Legacy. I am captivated by the music and dancing. They made my evenings joyful.

Yesterday I met new neighbours, Stefi and Mathias from Hamburg. They are futures and options traders – so deep shop talk!!

Would you believe, I finished 13,000 words of my synopsis and only have to do a couple of read throughs to finalise the manuscript. Thank you both for giving me the strength to make this journey.
