Day One2 – Playa Arenillas

I woke today to brilliant sunshine, a mirror sea and dolphins chasing the ferry. The smoothest journey I have ever taken by sea – and great because it was 29 hours. The “Connemara” Brittany ferry is “economie” and basic but absolutely fine. I slept most of the time and read my birthday book on photography.

I drove just 32km from the ferry port in Bilbao to the campsite which is wedged between imposing vertical cliffs and the sea shore. There are 3-4 restaurants within 250m and one of them lists 8 main courses under €6. This evening, hang gliders dotted the sky about the rock pinnacle. Tomorrow I am taking my new camera to explore the coast. A great start!
